I was fortunate to go to Carnevale in Viareggio, Italy a couple Sunday’s ago. It’s right on the oceanside, about an hour away from Florence. The floats were very large in size. They were as tall as the apartment buildings, if not taller! It was incredible to see these ginormous floats. Take a looksy.
I was very excited to find a store sign that literally had my name on it! I recently found out that Tessa is an old Tuscan name. I’m getting in touch with my Italian roots!
Today in Tuscany the sun has finally popped out without the arctic chill of the wind. It was so nice to finally feel (at least) simi-strong sunshine today. I noticed that the hillsides are blooming again with yellow and orange-yellow flowers…
Just enjoy the view. The weird sound in the background is distant jack hammering, by the way. Thanks 🙂
Check out my updated exploration!
For me, landscapes and skies represent limitless possibilities. When I see vast and open landscapes and skies, with all of its beautiful colors, images and sounds, it makes me feel like there are so many more possibilities to life. That life is not just A or B/black or white. But there are always other options. It’s just a matter of finding them; of seeing them.
When I see a beautiful moment, I must capture it because they are so fleeting. The sunset lasts only a few minutes, the birds will be chirping in that one spot for just a little while, the clouds may cover or uncover the sun at any given moment. There is an endless list of moments that last for just a short period of time. Everything in life is temporary. It is important to see the beautiful moments and acknowledge them so they don’t just pass you by.
And when life feels so stuck and the economy is so bad and there are things which are completely out of my control, I look up at the sky and at my surroundings, take in the colors, breath in the fresh air and listen to the sounds of life around me. And I know that there are other and better possibilities that will open themselves up, like when the clouds finally part after weeks of rain and the sun shines through again. I know that everything will be ok because what I’m looking at is somehow so much more important than the stresses of daily life. And that’s why I photograph and videotape landscapes, skies and beautiful moments.
